Datang Village originally obtained its water from a spring on the mountainside above the village. An ancient water tank below the spring stored the water for the use of the villagers. The earthquake caused damage deep in the mountain stopping the flow of water and damaging the storage tank.

Result: Datang Windmill is completed on December 22, 2009. The windmill able to lift water the long distance and high elevation up to their new water tank and that having to carry water up the mountain side was now a thing of the past clean water was now available in their village.
