Wind and water resources are rich in this village. The north
end of this town is higher than the southern end but still, it is a drought
area. They have invested considerable funding and labor to irrigate the
farm using electric pumps. In order to solve irrigation problem of providing
suitable irrigation water for a 1500 Chinese acre tea garden for three
natural villages, Iron Man Windmill Co. Ltd installed a 6 meter windmill
in October, 2007.
This windmill uses a wind wheel that is 6 meters in diameter having 18 sails and a tower height of 16 meters. It has been documented to pump 33.75 tons per hour. This is the first windmill in South China which uses low wind speeds to operate a high capacity irrigation pump. It symbolizes the beginning of the “land of the Chinese windmill” project. |
